Mr Ashvin Krishna Dwarka is a sworn Law Practitioner and Counsellor, licensed to practise as Notary in Mauritius.
After 5 years as an associate with the real estate and finance departments in the Paris offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a UK “magic circle” law firm, he set up his own legal practice, and now totals 17 years’ professional experience.
In the onshore sector, Mr Dwarka essentially advises on corporate and on structured finance and real property transactions.
As part of his international practice, Mr Dwarka specialises in trusts, tax and estate planning, asset protection and private international law. He also advises a number of management companies, GBC entities and regulated investment funds.
He is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the International Fiscal Association (Mauritius), the local representative of the LSE Global Real Estate Group, and holds membership of the Association of Trust and Management Companies (ATMC).
He has served twice as member-elect of the Mauritius Chamber of Notaries, which is the monitoring and disciplinary body of the notarial profession.
He regularly writes legal articles, which have been published in law reviews in France (Gazette du Palais), Mauritius (The Bar Chronicle, The Mauritius Law Review) and India (International Taxation, Taxmann, Global Taxation).
Mr Dwarka is a regular speaker at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ Indian Ocean Conferences and the International Fiscal Association Mauritius Conferences; he was the Rapporteur National at the 23rd pan-African Notaries Conference 2011 (Mauritius), at the 24th pan-African Notaries Conference 2012 (Cameroon), and at the Lausanne seminar on international succession and inheritance in March 2013; he represented the country at the 27th International Conference of Notaries in Lima, Peru, in October 2013 where he presented a report on regulation of the real estate market; he was also a speaker at the 1st International Colloquium on Trusts and Fiducias in September 2016, where he addressed the issue of cross-border enforcement of trusts.

Mr. Thomas Lemonnier is a tax and legal adviser specializing in French and international law.
He holds a « Master I » (Corporate Law) and a Master’s degree (Heritage Law) from the University of Rouen in France and an LLM (International Law) from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
Mr. Lemonnier specializes in civil law, tax law and international law.
He practices at Dwarka Law Chambers as associate.
He received invaluable training in tax and corporate law in the prestigious law firm Winston & Strawn in Paris. He has developed his skills on the issues of personal taxation, international taxation and corporate taxation. He was also in charge of corporate files, especially on civil society issues. Before coming to Mauritius he was tax advisor for an Art gallery in Paris. He was setting up mechanisms for tax optimization possible in France by acquiring art works and was then in charge of securing transactions.
Mr. Lemonnier therefore has a broad spectrum of expertise in property, civil and tax law.
An expert in French law, he advises our clients on the issue of French civil law applicable on the island, therefore mainly in the field of real estate and civil societies.
The skills he has developed in France allow him to bring to Mauritius his expertise in wealth management and tax optimization.
